Whether it’s your first time on skis or you’ve been skiing for years, Val Cenis has everything you need for a brilliant week on the mountain. Quieter slopes than the big resorts, outstanding terrain, and a team on hand to make sure you get the most out of every day.
The Skiing
Everything you need on the mountain
125km of marked piste to explore
1400m vertical drop, one of the highest in Europe
Wide range of pistes for all abilities
Unlimited off-piste terrain for the adventurous
High tree line up to 2000m, so there is always somewhere great to ski whatever the weather
Beautiful surroundings through protected areas of the National Park

All Abilities Welcome
Your perfect week, whatever your level
Val Cenis works brilliantly for mixed ability groups because there is genuinely something for everyone.
If you are a beginner
- Gentle slopes lower down the mountain to build your confidence
- The 10km Escargot run is the longest green run in Europe, so you can get high up the mountain and enjoy a long ski with stunning views from the very start of your holiday
If you are an intermediate
- A wide variety of blues and reds that follow the natural course of the mountain
- All the lifts offer the option of a blue slope, so you can go everywhere, including up to 2800m to see the stunning views over the Mont Cenis lake.
If you are an advanced skier
- Challenging reds and long blacks to test yourself on
- Outstanding off-piste in open bowls, through the forest, and around the lake
- Fresh tracks through snow-covered trees is one of the real highlights of skiing in Val Cenis

INCLUDED IN YOUR HOLIDAY
Free group skiing, every afternoon
Group skiing is one of the experiences our clients love the most about a week with MGS, and it comes up again and again in our testimonials.
We know that skiing with people who go at a very different pace can take the enjoyment out of the day. Our free afternoon group skiing means you can ski with others at your level, explore more of the mountain, and get far more out of your week.
Free for MGS clients, no booking required.
Groups led by an ESF instructor and accompanied by an MGS team member.
Groups organised roughly by ability, so you ski with people at your level
Experience the mountain fully at your level, from those who like relaxed cruising to advanced skiers looking for a challenge.
A safe way to start exploring off-piste if that is something you want to try
A different adventure every afternoon for confident off-piste skiers
Please note: you will need to be comfortable on a blue run to join group ski. Off-piste skiers will require a DVA, shovel and probe every afternoon.
YOUR LIFT PASS
350km of piste included
Your lift pass gives you unlimited access to Val Cenis throughout your stay, plus one day in each of the following nearby resorts:
Valfréjus
La Norma
Aussois
Bonneval-sur-Arc
That is over 350km of piste to explore across the Maurienne valley.
Not skiing? You can get a Pieton pass, which lets you take certain lifts to access the mountain restaurants and walking routes higher up.

A copy of the piste map will be waiting in your accommodation for every skiing member of your group. You can also explore it below before you travel. Click on the red dots to watch videos of piste runs, lifts, and off-piste areas so you know exactly what to expect when you arrive.

SKI AND SNOWBOARD LESSONS
Get the most out of your time on the slopes
Lessons in Val Cenis are run by the Ecole de Ski Français (ESF), with English-speaking instructors available throughout the season. There are two options depending on what suits you best:
Group ski school (8 to 12 people): a great social option at a lower price point
Private lessons (individuals or smaller groups): more personalised attention, tailored to your ability and goals
Once you have booked with us we help organise lessons and coordinate directly with the ESF to ensure all is confirmed before you arrive.
YOUR EQUIPMENT
Our team meet you for ski fit on arrival
We have worked with Jeannot Sports, a local ski and snowboard shop, since the 1980s. That means you get access to the latest gear from a team who really know what they are doing.
You will be given a ski fit time when you arrive
Our team will meet you in the shop to make sure you get the right boots, skis, or snowboard
If anything does not feel right during the week, you can swap your equipment at no extra charge

SKIING WITH CHILDREN
A great resort for families
Val Cenis is a brilliant choice if you are travelling with young children.
Babies and infants: a local crèche is available for little ones not yet on skis
Children aged 3 to 12: a range of options combining childcare and skiing through the crèche and ESF, including activities like igloo building and sledging alongside time on the slopes
Once you have booked with us, we will send you all the information you need and coordinate directly with the crèche and ESF to get childcare arranged before you arrive.
