WHERE TO EAT ON THE MOUNTAIN

Val Cenis offers a selection of mountain restaurants, all very good for a morning coffee or hot chocolate, when you need to warm up after those early morning runs, they all serve lunch, and the menus vary from quick sandwich snacks to 3 courses of daily specials. Don’t forget the French love their 4th meal of the day – the “goûter” a traditional 4-5p.m. snack, crepes are usually available at this time.
There are two restaurants located on the L’Escargot green run:
Le Chalet des Essarts, situated along the L’Escargot near the Mickey Run. Easily accessible for beginners and small children as this is situated amongst the nursery slopes. With deck chairs in the snow out front, it’s an ideal place to stop for a drink on your way down. There is a varied menu, with excellent specials each day, served either on the large terraceor inside, there is a spacious dining area.

La Ferme du XXIII is also located on the L’Escargot, accessible via the green L’Escargot run, if you take the Ramasse chairlift, but you can also access the restaurant from the blue Famillial, if you are at the top of the Vieux Moulin telecabine, for example. A relatively new restaurant owned and run by a local farmer, the emphasis is on traditional dishes, using his own local produce.
Sector Mont Cenis:
Le Relais du Col de Mont Cenis, situated at the top of the Ramasse chairlift, followed by a 30 minute walk along the walkers path. Otherwise this restaurant is accessible from the red run, Le Goulet. A traditional restaurant and gite, serving typical Savoyard dishes.
L’Alpage d’Augustin – Situated along the blue Tetras slope, accessible from the top of the Arcellins chairlift. The newest restaurant on the mountain but already a firm favourite, with its spectacular views, lively, fun packed terrace, with billiard table, fire pit, and disco tunes played loud, bringing the party to Val Cenis all day, every day.

Middle Station:
Chalet La Fema a popular restaurant situated at the top of the Vieux Moulin telecabine, easily accessible to walkers and skiers alike. Serving various food options, from snack sandwiches to a full 3 course menu from the self-service restaurant. Their food is sourced locally and prepared from fresh ingredients each day. La Fema has a large sunny terrace, and a spacious interior dining area. This restaurant can get very busy, so it’s best to arrive early.
Sector Arcelle:
Chalet La Ranova is accessible from the L’Arcelle 6 man chairlift, however the restaurant is situated on the red L’Arcelle slope, and once at the restaurant the only way down is to use the L’Arcelle slope, which is not suitable for beginners. A variety of excellent freshly made food served daily, either on the terrace, with its exceptional views, or inside the cosy chalet with its wood burning stove.
Sector Termignon:
Rock’Fuge is located in the Termignon sector, if heading up on La Turra and Le Source chairlifts from Lanslebourg, make your way across to the new Grand Coin 6 man chairlift and you will find this restaurant. Serving speciality burgers and poke bowls.
